How do I download for offline use?
We love podcasts for their ability to work offline, and Player FM has two main download features:
- Subscriptions - Player FM automatically keeps recent episodes from each subscription offline. You can fine-tune this through the options under the Subscriptions section in Settings > Downloads, choosing when to download and how many episodes.
- Play Later - Add any episode to Play Later whether you're subscribed to the podcast series or not. Your Play Later list automatically downloads. You can fine-tune this as well by configuring the options under the Play Later section in Settings > Downloads.
There are some other downloading options for advanced users:
- Download - There is a Download/Download Now option that can be accessed by tapping the 3-dot menu found in every episode, but it's mainly there for familiarity. We think Play Later is all you need in most cases, and it has a lot of advantages! For details, see this help article.
- Raw episode file - Episode detail screens have an Info or Links... option that users can access from the 3-dot menu on the top right. Here you can find the Raw episode file link. You can tap it and hit the download option to download the episode file to your device. Please note that in this method, the episode will not be marked as downloaded on the Player FM app.
